Inter president Erick Thohir believes that it will take two or three years to rebuild the Biscione and have the team performing at its best again.

The 44-year-old, who bought a majority share in the Nerazzurri from Massimo Moratti in October 2013, admits that his main goal is to have the Milan side return to competing in the Champions League and understands that such an objective cannot be achieved overnight.

Thohir spoke to BolaNews about some of his plans for Inter and revealed that he has always felt love for the San Siro outfit even before taking control of the team.

“My goal is to take Inter back to competing at the highest levels in Europe,” said the Indonesian businessman.

“My fellow executives and I, however, are fully aware that it will take two or three years to rebuild a team that can compete at that level.

“Inter, incidentally, was one of the teams that I followed most and that fascinated me.

“Personally I like Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Ajax, but Inter is the only team that I followed regularly in the past.”
