Palermo’s controversial president Maurizio Zamparini has spoke about the club’s new arrivals and coach Giuseppe Iachini ahead of the new season.

The Rosanero will return to Serie A this season after spending last term in Serie B. Palermo won the Serie B Championship for the fifth time, second most of any team, with 86 points.

The club have been slow in adding players this summer, but has moved to reassure fans reinforcements will be arriving.

Zamparini spoke to Gazzetta dello Sport about the club’s transfer activity which has already seen the club lose Northern Irish striker Kyle Lafferty to Norwich City.

“This season we have focused on the same backbone of last season with some graft that can increase quality,” Zamparini stated.

“Our goal is to start the season with Iachini on the bench. It’ll take time, but our goal is to grow and improve on what we did in the nine years we played in Serie A.”
