Inter legend Javier Zanetti has revealed that he’s ready to take on all of the responsibilities that come with the role of Biscione vice-president.

The 40-year-old, who was recently named vice-president of the Nerazzurri after retiring from his professional football career, admits that he’s prepared to begin this new journey and plans on remaining close to the team in order to help young players understand the importance of playing for the Milan side.

Zanetti spoke to Ole about the duties he will have in his new executive position with the San Siro outfit and commented on his mission to continue being as useful to Inter as possible.

“It will be a great responsibility,” said the Argentine. “It’s a new career that I have decided to undertake with the utmost enthusiasm.

“I know that a phase will begin now that will seem to change everything, but I hope to be as useful off of the pitch as I was when I was playing on the pitch.

“What will my responsibilities be? On one hand, Inter president Erick Thohir wants to expand the Inter brand to other markets around the world such as Indonesia, China, Japan and Australia.

“So in that sense I will help him by being an ambassador, but at the same time I will try to stay close to the team, especially to try and explain to the young people what it means to wear the Inter shirt.”
