Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti has revealed that he’s excited to get started in his new role at the Serie A club and is thankful for the chance to continue working with the Biscione.
The 40-year-old was chosen to become the new Nerazzurri vice-president after announcing his retirement from professional football at the end of the 2013-14 campaign and he has insisted that he will do his best to share all of his knowledge of the sport with the Milan side’s players.
Zanetti spoke to Inter Channel about how proud and grateful he is to be able to start a new career with Inter and admitted that one of the club’s main objectives is to keep the fans happy.
“I’m excited to begin this new role. I must thank Massimo Moratti and Erick Thohir for giving me this opportunity to continue working at Inter,” said the Nerazzurri legend. “They had trust in me, it fills me with pride.
“This is a great opportunity because I have a lot of knowledge regarding FIFA and UEFA. Inter needs to expand and this is an opportunity that cannot be missed.
“It will also be important to share my knowledge of the sport with the team, to understand that they’re available for everything.
“I’ll try to help all the players understand what it means to wear the Inter shirt and what an honour it is. Our fans deserve the best.”
