Barcelona central midfielder Alex Song has been identified as a potential transfer target for both Inter and AC Milan.

The 26 year old, deemed surplus to requirements by new Barca head coach Luis Enrique, is looking for a fresh start after his career became some what stagnant during his time at the Camp Nou, with first team action being limited to mostly appearances from the bench.

Song, who made 39 appearances in total for the Catalonia club over a two year period, has apparently decided to call it time on his spell in La Liga, and according to Mundo Deportivo, both Milan powerhouses are leading the charge for the signature of the Cameroonian international.

The high salary of the ex-Arsenal man, who is contracted to the Blaugrana until 2017, may prove to be a stumbling block for the Lombardia clubs, with a season-long loan deal seemingly the only financially viable offer for the Italian outfits to make.

Song’s preferred destination, however, would appear to be a return to the Premier League, with the likes of Manchester United, Aston Villa and Everton having already registered their interest in the want-away midfielder.
