AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi is confident that new signing Fernando Torres will succeed in Italy.

The former Rossoneri striker took over on the tactician’s bench after former teammate Clarence Seedorf was sacked as coach earlier this summer, and is eagerly awaiting his first league clash of the season.

“It’s going to be a great feeling tomorrow, and I’m really looking forward to [the game],” he enthused to Milan Channel.

“It’s a wonderful experience to be back in the stadium [where I once played] in front of the fans. [Although it’s only been] two months, I know my team will give their all for not just themselves, but the supporters as well.

“The presence of the president is also fundamental and although I’m very excited, I’m also calm.”

It will be an interesting clash for Inzaghi, as his brother Simone is involved with the Lazio set-up as the team’s Primavera coach.

“Yes, my brother Simone will be there with the family, as it will be a special game. He has a bright future with Lazio as the youth team’s coach.”

Finally, he also touched on the arrival of former Chelsea striker Torres, who endured a torrid time at Stamford Bridge prior to his move.

“Torres? With the support of the fans and everyone here at Milan, we will help him become the player that he once was.

“[However, in terms of his] position, I don’t have a fixed set-up. If he does well with a 4-3-3, we’ll stick to that, otherwise we’ll find an alternative.”
