Massimo Ambrosini has announced that he may be on the verge of retiring from professional football this summer.

The 37-year-old, who spent the 2013-14 term at Fiorentina and decided to leave the club at the end of his one-year deal, has revealed that he’s received several offers to begin a new career abroad, most likely in television.

Ambrosini spoke in an interview with Il Resto del Carlino about his future and the probability of him hanging up his boots this summer, while also commenting on where people might see him next.

“I’m about 90 per cent sure that I’m going to retire and will probably work in television,” said the former AC Milan man, who began his professional footballing career in 1994 at Cesena.

“I’m sorry to have to quit football after 20 years. It’s nice to play, but I’ve had a few interesting proposals, especially abroad.

“It will be a big change, I still have some playing left in me, but I’ll be patient and see what happens.

“There are some ideas of me working in the television industry, but there’s still nothing definitive.”
