Carlo Ancelotti has suggested that Diego Lopez was not forced out of Real Madrid, but in fact he chose to join AC Milan.
The 32-year-old was in competition with Iker Casillas at the Estadio Bernabéu and was Ancelotti’s first choice for La Liga matches last season, with the Spain captain taking over during cup games.
“He decided to leave, no one forced him. He was looking for a new opportunity and a new team,” Ancelotti told the press.
Lopez joined the Rossoneri for a nominal fee and is set to start the season as the club’s No.1 goalkeeper.
