Edu Vargas - NapoliArsenal have reportedly entered the race to sign Napoli forward Eduardo Vargas ahead of the 2014-15 season.

The 24-year-old, who has spent most of his time out on loan since joining the Partenopei in 2012, has been on the radar of several European clubs including Spanish side Valencia after his impressive performances for Chile at the World Cup earlier this summer, but it seems that the Gunners may now be willing to take a step ahead of the pack in hopes of landing him in the coming weeks.

According to Metro, new Arsenal signing and fellow Chilean international Alexis Sanchez has urged coach Arsene Wenger to make a move for Vargas before he completes a deal with a different club.

Some reports suggest, however, that Valencia are seen as the most likely destination for the forward, as he had a successful run while spending the second half of the 2013-14 season on loan with the Taronges, though Napoli boss Rafa Benitez is apparently keen on keeping the growing talent at Napoli.
