Arsenal have entered the race for highly rated Roma forward Mattia Destro,
The 23-year-old has been the target of others English clubs, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, but the Gunners are looking to make an eleventh hour bid for the striker.
According to Sky Sport Italia, early on Friday Arsenal have enquired about the Italian’s availability, with Roma said to be seeking a €25 million fee.
With French international Oliver Giroud looking to be out for four months after an injury sustained against Everton last Saturday, Destro could be the answer to Wenger’s striking woes.
Destro proved to be one of the bright sparks from Serie A last campaign – netting 13 times – the highest scorer at Roma for the season.
