Roma defender Davide Astori has urged his new club to clear their first hurdle with a win over Fiorentina this weekend.

The Giallorossi came second place in last season’s Serie A campaign and want to get off to a winning start at the Stadio Olimpico.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia the former Cagliari defender was quizzed on Vincenzo Montella’s side and the threat they pose.

“We want a big win against a side that plays well and one that also has players of great quality,” the 27 year-old stated.

“Mario Gomez will be a big threat, but they also have other quality players like Borja Valero and [Khouma] Babacar.”

Fiorentina were Champions League hopefuls last season under Vincenzo Montella but lost out to Roma and Napoli.

“Montella makes them play the way they do, we will need our fans to be the twelth man on the day,” he concluded.
