German champions Bayern Munich have reached a deal to sign Roma centre back Mehdi Benatia on a five-year deal.
Benatia, 27, has strongly been linked with a move away from the Giallorossi this transfer window and Bayern beat the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United to secure the Morocco international.
It was revealed on Bayern’s official club website that an undisclosed fee had been agreed between the two clubs, though it is believed to be €27 million plus bonuses, and that Benatia will arrive in Bavaria on Wednesday to undergo his medical.
The defender spent just one season with Roma, having joined for €13.5m from Udinese last summer, and he was a key player defensively throughout the course of the season and also managed to score five goals in Serie A as the club finished as runners-up to Juventus.
