The race to sign Inter’s Matias Silvestre has heated up as Lazio and Besiktas have locked horns for the defender’s signature.

The Turkish outfit has tabled an offer of €4 million for the combined purchase of Silvestre along with 24-year-old attacking midfielder Ruben Botta; however Inter would only accept a fee in the region of €6m for the Argentinean duo.

LaLazioSiamoNoi reports that Lazio are also looking to swoop for the 29-year-old defender who is expected to leave the club this summer and his salary of €1.4m per year will not be a problem for the Biancoceleste as president Claudio Lotito looks to buy a defensive partner for new signing Stefan de Vrij.

The Nerazzurri bought Silvestre for €8m in July 2012 after just one season at Palermo, and he was loaned out to cross-town rivals AC Milan last season where he had a disappointing time making just four appearances in the Serie A.
