Chelsea and Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel has said no to a proposed loan move to AC Milan.

The Dutchman was the only part left to convince for the Rossoneri with Blues coach Jose Mourinho giving permission for the player to leave.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the midfielder wishes to stay and attempt to break into the Chelsea side, rather than seek a starting spot elsewhere.

Milan had been on the trail of van Ginkel, as well as other young midfielders such as Clement Grenier and Adrien Rabiot.

The Italian team had gained the permission of all other parties but could not convince the 21 year old to join them.

The former Vitesse player was signed by the Blues in 2013 for an estimated figure of €10 million, but since his arrival, he has managed just four appearances for Chelsea, playing 97 minutes in total.
