With the summer transfer window closing on Monday night, Atalanta coach Stefano Colantuono has admitted that there may still be some departures from the Nerazzurri and hinted that he could put his faith in the club’s youth prospects.

The 51-year-old also had to answer criticisms of their 2-0 Coppa Italia victory over Pisa but insisted that the fact that they did not find a crucial second goal to kill off the game until Leonardo Spinazzola’s 81st minute strike was largely irrelevant.

“I am satisfied with the match of the Coppa Italia,” Colantuono told Corriere di Bergamo.

“Perhaps we could close the game out before we did, but these are details.

“I have not revolutionised anything in defence. Many of the new arrivals I already knew them. Now I have a competitive group, everyone can make a contribution.

“Generally some will be gone and squad will be trimmed [before the transfer window closes].

“Those departures allow you to have a youth at the forefront. I have agreements with the club, however, stipulating that those who leave will be replaced.

“Who will come in? Anything can happen.”
