New Italy coach Antonio Conte has expressed in interest in working with Giuseppe Rossi in the Azzurri set-up for the future.
Rossi, who was left back in Florence whilst Italy crashed out in the Group stages under Cesare Prandelli could still have a place in the national team.
“I have come to talk with Montella [Vincenzo] because I am very interested in Rossi’ Conte told the press during a visit to Florence on Thursday morning].
“I want to be able to work with Rossi and I need to converse about the best and right time for the use of him.
“Montella and I are discussing in detail and he’ll explain to me what the conditions of the player are.
“To re-alliterate, we are very interested in this player.”
Conte’s first game in charge of the Azzurri will occur on September 4, when they meet World Cup third place nation, the Netherlands.
