Conte - ItalyRecently appointed Italy coach Antonio Conte has stated that the Azzurri must operate like a club in order to return to Europe’s elite.

The 2006 World Champions suffered terribly in the recent Brazil tournament tumbling out in the first round, just as they had done four years earlier in South Africa.

“I want Italy to become like a small club side.  This is so we can create a synergy, to improve relationships.  It’s a difficult moment for us right now but we can overcome it,” he told fcinternews.it.

The former Juventus tactician had been visiting players and coaches at Inter, with a view to getting a closer rapport with the big sides in Serie A.

Conte unexpectedly left the Bianconeri this summer after having lead them to three consecutive Scudetto titles.

He was offered the national team job after it was vacated by Cesare Prandelli after the disaster in Brazil.
