Despite kicking off their Serie A campaign away to Sassuolo on Sunday night Cagliari captain Daniele Conti is hoping for a packed Stadio Sant’Elia this season as the Rossoblu look to entertain their fans under new coach Zdenek Zeman.

However, the 35-year-old who has spent virtually his entire career with Isolani warned that with several new arrivals the team will also need time to adopt the methods of the much travelled coach.

“Ours is a young team, which must get used to the ways of new coach and one week away from the championship start, we have to be ready,” Conti told CagliariCalcio.net.

“The [Stadio] Sant’Elia is open again for 12,000 spectators, and for us it was sad to go into the field and see the empty stands [last season].

“I hope that the fans fill the stadium every Sunday. We need their help, especially in difficult moments that will happen, as a rule in every league.

“We will try to give our supporters that extra charge to entice them to come to the stadium and make them happy. I’m sure that together we can all do a great job .

“There are several young people of quality, as [Lorenzo] Crisetig, [Samuele] Longo and [Godfred] Donsah, to name just a few.

“We really want to do well. I do not do predictions, I only say that we will push for Cagliari.”
