Former Sydney FC star and Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has posted his final goodbye to Australia.

The 39 year old played his final match in Australia for the A-League All Stars in their 3-2 loss to Juventus on Sunday night in Sydney.

Del Piero left a heartfelt farewell on his official website yesterday thanking the Australian public once more for their welcome during his stint in the country.

If there’s one thing I learnt in all these years of football ( and, to think well, they are almost forty ) is to enjoy all that happens, every single moment, when I play.

Yesterday’s night,  for example, was one of those gifts that will never cease to amaze me.

You can never get used to the affection people show you, like the demonstration of fondness I got yesterday from Sydney people, during the night that was gala event for Australian football, surely not just for me.
What always makes the difference is  the sense of “true” that enters my heart , the sincerity in all the cheers, on the banners, in applauses, in that spontaneous desire to stay together, you with me and I with you,

It was fabulous. The match was competitive and vivd, best compliments to  “All Stars” that showed the progress made by Australian football, a guarantee for the future rich of satisfactions for A-League.

For the very first time in my professional career, I was on the field with Juventus, but without Juventus jersey on, it was incredibly touching and I can’t be happier to have seen all the guys on the pitch: thanks for all the hugs, for all your words… good luck to all for a new extraordinary season!

And above all, the emotional farewell of the fans at the Anz Stadium…ideally, it was everything that we have experienced in these two wonderful years together

Thank you all, from the very bottom of my heart. Also to all of you (lots of you), who joined the party on social network.  This party was really awesome!!!

Good bye, Australia. New start lies ahead…

#OneLove
Ale
