Fiorentina owner Andrea Della Valle has confirmed that Juan Cuadrado will be staying at the club this summer after being heavily linked with the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United in the past few months.

The Catalan giants were reportedly leading the race to sign the Colombian winger but were put off by the €40 million asking price of the 26-year-old, but instead opted to sign Douglas Pereira from Sao Paulo to bolster their right wing.

“We have raised the bar and now must fight for the Champions League,” Della Valle told reporters as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.com. “The good news is that he told me about his desire to stay in Florence.”

“He is a gift that the city and the fans deserve and I say this with certainty that Cuadrado will remain in Florence, and we will see the player’s agent in the coming weeks to try and extend his contract.”

Last season Cuadrado scored 15 goals in 43 appearances for the Viola.
