Parma coach Roberto Donadoni wants to see his team put aside the disappointment of missing out on the Europa League and focus on their upcoming clash Cesena.

The Crociati were agonizingly close to featuring in European football after a long hiatus, only to see their spot taken away due to financial irregularities within the club.

Nonetheless, Donadoni is clearly looking forward to the task at hand, highlighting the significance of his team’s domestic opener and the possibility of its outcome influencing some transfer decisions.

“Our match will test our character, as we will be facing off against a team that has just returned to Serie A and will be highly motivated,” the 50-year-old former midfielder remarked during his pre-match press conference.

“And right now, we find ourselves in the thick of the transfer window, which can have a psychological effect, but this happens every year and nothing changes.

“[However], in recent years, many deals have been completed in the last hours of the market. I don’t know if the game will influence any transfer moves, but we’ll see what happens based on our results.”
