Fiorentina have been linked with a move for the forgotten Manchester City fullback Micah Richards.

The 26-year-old has been told he is surplus to requirements by current Citizens coach Manuel Pellegrini, putting the Viola on high alert.

According to reports by Tuttomercatoweb, Fiorentina are having an initial look at the English defender.

Vincenzo Montella, current coach at Fiorentina, will take a closer look at the defender’s availability over the coming days as the transfer window comes a close.

Richards has amassed a total of 72 appearances for Manchester City since 2009, but has only made nine appearances in the past two seasons due to injury and becoming out of favour with Pellegrini.
