Montpellier defensive midfielder Benjamin Stambouli is to complete his move to Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend after been linked with a move to Fiorentina for most of this transfer window.
The 24-year-old helped La Paillade to the Ligue 1 title in 2012 and the Viola had followed his progress last season and were set to make their move but the North London side have beaten them to his signature.
A statement on the French clubs twitter account announced an agreement had been reached with Spurs and Stambouli is expected to travel to London on Friday night to undergo his medical and complete a move to White Hart Lane.
It’s expected now the Tuscan side will step up their effort’s to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fernando despite the Brazilian only signing for the Ukrainian club in 2013 for a reported fee of €11 million.
