Filippo Galli, head of the AC Milan youth academy, believes that Giampaolo Pazzini will play a crucial part in the Diavolo squad during the 2014-15 campaign.

The 30-year-old striker may have to step it up in the new season now that the Rossoneri have lost several attacking players this summer including Mario Balotelli, Kaka and Robinho, and Galli thinks the former Fiorentina man can make a positive difference in Pippo Inzaghi’s squad.

Galli spoke to Sky Sport Italia about Pazzini’s importance to AC Milan and the talent possessed by young midfielder Bryan Cristante, while also commenting on the possibility of youth player’s being called up to Inzaghi’s first team.

“Pazzini will be an important player, even if he doesn’t play in all of the games,” said the 51-year-old, who played as a defender for Milan from 1983-96.

“Cristante? He already played in the first team last season, Inzaghi knows him well and will be able to use him in the first team more often.

“It will be difficult to see some of the other Primavera players in the first team, we have so many young players. Right now it’s hard to think of other players who may already be prepared to earn a spot in Inzaghi’s team.”
