After speculation that despite the sale of Mario Balotelli to Premier League side Liverpool, AC Milan may still not be able to meet Torino’s valuation of attacker Alessio Cerci, vice-president Adriano Galliano has hinted as much by giving a humorous response when questioned over negotiations.

Believed to be a long time target for new coach Filippo Inzaghi, the Granata are thought to want €20m for the Italian international, the same fee the Rossoneri received for Balotelli, but Galliani joked that Torino owner Urbano Cairo feels they are attempting to drive the price down.

“Cairo said that I have short arms, but he does not understand that these days I do not have arms,” Galliani told La Stampa.

If Milan are merely to challenge for European places this season they will need to replace the man who was likely to be their man attacking threat this term and after netting 13 times last season in Turin the 27-year-old would surely contribute his fair share.
