Former Juventus forward Vincenzo Iaquinta believes that Mario Balotelli could be a vital player for Liverpool if he can just keep his behaviour under control.

The 24-year-old is close to completing his transfer to the Reds from AC Milan and Iaquinta feels both teams could possibly benefit from the deal, but especially the Rossoneri once they receive his €20 million transfer fee.

Iaquinta spoke to Tuttomercatoweb about Balotelli’s move to Liverpool and commented on who he thinks could be the best replacement for him at Milan, naming Roma striker Mattia Destro as his top choice.

“Changing clubs is now a habit for Mario,” said the 34-year-old. “He changes teams every year for reasons I honestly don’t know, but it can’t be a positive sign.

“This is certainly a good deal for Milan just as the market will be closing soon, €20 million can always come in handy.

“However, if Balotelli managed to get his head right and think a bit more, he would be a vital player for any squad.

“His possible replacement at Milan? I really like Destro, he has demonstrated to me at Roma that he has a nose for scoring goals and the ability to be the main reference for any team’s attack.

“My preference also, but not only, goes to him because he is Italian.”
