Serie A club Cagliari have announced that they have successfully negotiated a contract renewal with striker Victor Ibarbo that will keep him at the club until June 2017.

The 24-year-old Colombian joined the Sardinians in 2011 from Atletico Nacional in his homeland and played a vital role as they survived relegation last season to eventually finish 15th and will play an important role under new coach Zdenek Zeman this year.

“I am very happy to stay in Cagliari, I will do my best to the team and for the fans,” Ibarbo told Tuttomercatoweb.

Despite only scoring four times in 30 Serie A appearances for the Rossoblu the striker was still included in Jose Pekerman’s Colombia squad for the World Cup finals in Brazil this summer where the South Americans impressed on their way to a quarter-final exit.
