Inter ace Mauro Icardi says his side must continue their fine Europa League form into the Serie A season after a 6-0 demolition of Stjarnan.

The Argentine hitman was in great form himself against the Icelandic opposition, scoring twice as the Nerazzurri blazed a trail to the group stages.

“I am happy with the two goals and it was good to hear the crowd’s reaction,” Icardi toldĀ Mediaset PremiumĀ afterwards. “They are always with us and we thank them.

“That is nice as a player. Now we must use this good victory to start the season well and make sure that we play well in every game and that starts with Torino.”

Throughout the summer, the former Sampdoria man had been linked with moves to Spain and England among others but it is something that the striker had no interest in discussing.

He responded bluntly to questions about that speculation: “I do not want to talk anymore about the transfer market.

“All I want to talk about is what happens on the field.”
