Swiss midfielder Gokhan Inler has praised Napoli coach Rafael Benitez ahead of a tough season that starts with Champions League qualifiers.
Inler is about to return to pre-season training following his post World Cup break and has been an integral part of the Neapolitan’s midfield since joining from Udinese in 2011, and last season solidified his place in coach Benitez’s plans with a series of assured performances.
“Working with Benitez is important to me,” he told Fair Play Agency.
“It will be a very challenging year, we start right away with the Champions League. These games are crucial as we want to progress in the competition, we want to progress.
“Benitez’s staff do a fantastic job. They do so many tests to prepare us.
“We all know where we can improve this season.”
Napoli are still searching for a partner for Inler in midfield, with Valon Behrami having fallen out of favour with Benitez last season and January signing Jorginho having no experience in European competition.
