Inter captain Andrea Ranocchia expects a tough test as the Nerazzurri prepare to face Icelandic minnows Stjarnan in Iceland on Wednesday evening.

The Europa League playoff is arguably the biggest game in Stjarnar’s history. However, the 2010 Champions League winners will have to be wary of a team with six competitive matches under their belt this season.

“For them it will be the race of life, but for us this race is obviously essential for moving forward in the competition,” Ranocchia told the press. “Tomorrow we will battle.”

The former Genoa defender continued was also asked about his international aspirations, with Italy now under the stewardship of Antonio Conte.

“The National Team is a consequence of what we do with Inter,” the defender explained. “You have to do well in the Nerazzurri shirt to wear the blue of Italy.”

The second leg will take place at the San Siro on Thursday August 28, just three days before Inter’s Serie A campaign begins at Torino.
