Inter’s Mateo Kovacic has expressed his gratitude to the San Siro faithful following the Nerazzurri’s victory in their Europa League clash.

Walter Mazzarri’s men thrashed a hapless Stjarnan side as they ran riot against the Icelandic outfit winning 6-0 on the night, with the young Croatian grabbing a hat-trick, and 9-0 on aggregate.

And, following the match, the 20-year-old midfielder was full of enthusiasm about the season ahead, and hailed the team’s support for not giving up on him during which has been a frustrating settling in period for the former Dinamo Zagreb star.

“I’m ready to take on anything Mazzarri asks of me,” he stated to Mediaset Premium.

“It was great to finally score as it was quite frustrating before because I wasn’t able to do so, and hopefully more goals will come. The fans really have helped me a lot and I’m quite grateful for that.”

The young player also discussed his aspirations for his club this season, and feels that a better finish than last season’s fifth place is within their capabilities.

“[Certainly], if we play well, I think we can make it into third place. We’re a great team, and our coach is here to help and work with us.”
