AC Milan boss Pippo Inzaghi believes that there is a lot to gain from the sale of Mario Balotelli to Liverpool and thinks it will help his squad improve in many aspects.

The tactician has insisted that the departure of the 24-year-old star striker, who is on the verge of completing a €20 million transfer to the Reds, will give the rest of the San Siro outfit’s players more hunger and determination to step up and succeed during the new season.

Inzaghi spoke to reporters about Balotelli’s exit from AC Milan and expressed his positive outlook on the future, while also sending his best wishes to the Italian striker at Liverpool.

“When a player leaves, it means that the decision was made by the coach and the club as well, not just him,” said the 41-year-old.

“Surely we are losing a great player, but we will probably gain a lot more from other points of view, as in team spirit and the stronger desire to well. We should be happy.

“Mario has always trained and been well-behaved with me. I wish him the best of luck and now we’ll move on.”
