AC Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi insists he is confident ahead of the new season and will only bring in more players if they are right for the team.

The Rossoneri have just returned from their pre-season tour of the United States in which they lost three games to Olympiacos, Manchester City and Liverpool before defeating Chivas last Wednesday.

Inzaghi though told the assembled media that his side can take positives from their American trip and are confident ahead of the new campaign.

“What is positive is that we have not even had an injury. These are things that can happen on a tour in when you train little and play often,” he said.

“We also got [Jeremy] Menez back; there is only the knock for [Mattia] De Sciglio that bothers us.

“My staff and I are confident; we see good things in the eyes of the players. We need to get to the first game at one hundred percent.”

Milan have already added Michael Agazzi, Alex, Menez, Adil Rami, Diego Lopez and Pablo Armero to their squad ahead of the new season, and the 41-year-old coach says that he will only add further if there is a player available who can improve the team further.

“The club knows very well what my requests are and they agree with me. But is it right that you mention [vice-president Adriano] Galliani.

“We have a competitive squad. If someone comes along that’s even better then great, but otherwise we will not mourn him.”

The former Italy striker was also keen to play up the importance of some experienced players in the side as well as a number of young players already at the club.

“[Nigel] de Jong will return [from holiday] next week, and during the season we will get [captain Riccardo] Montolivo back.

“In the last few days we realised that players like [M’baye] Niang, [Bryan] Cristante and [Riccardo] Saponara have got even better and can stay here and give us a big hand during the season.”
