FIGC LogoItaly is in 14th place in the FIFA rankings after the Azzurri had underachieved at the 2014 World Cup.

The Azzurri were eliminated in the first round of Brazil 2014 after they had won their first Group D game against England and then lost to both Costa Rica and Uruguay.

According to FIFA, the Italians were in 14th place in July and they remain in the same position after today’s update. It should also be mentioned that Italy have not played an international match since losing 1-0 to Uruguay on June 24.

Costa Rica, who finished on top of Italy’s group at the World Cup, have achieved their highest placing in the FIFA rankings, coming in 15th place. Uruguay and England, the other teams in Group D, are currently ranked sixth and 20th respectively.

The top three finishers at Brazil also sit on top of the FIFA rankings. Germany have top spot, followed by Argentina and the Netherlands.
