Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar has been made a transfer target by Juventus as the Turin club look to strengthen their defensive options for next season.

Vlaar caught the attention of many big clubs this summer after a strong performance with the Dutch national team during the World Cup, as the 29-year-old centre-back has been linked with a move to join fellow countryman Stefan de Vrij at Lazio.

However according to La Gazzetta dello Sport Vlaar has been on the radar of newly appointed Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri, as the Bianconeri look to rival Lazio for the signature of the Dutch defender.

While both Juventus and Lazio continue to monitor the availability of Vlaar none appear willing to meet Aston Villa’s transfer demands believed to be in the price range of €10 million.

Vlaar who has one year remaining on his contract at Villa Park was named captain of the Premier League side during the 2012-2013 season, making a total of 62 appearances for the English club.
