Juventus’ negotiations with Benfica for their captain Luisao have stalled forcing the Serie A champions to explore other defensive options.

The Bianconeri are determined to add strength in depth to their defence and coach Massimiliano Allegri had earmarked the Brazilian as the perfect target.

However according to La Stampa, Benfica are steadfast in their refusal to discuss a deal and have threatened to report the Bianconeri to Fifa over their unsanctioned negotiations with the 33 year old.

Though a deal for the player remains a possibility the slowness of the deal has forced the club to reevaluate moves for Olympiakos’ Kostas Manolas and Galatasaray’s Semih Kaya.

Luisao joined the Portuguese champions in 2003 and has since made over 400 appearances for the club and was part of the side that defeated Juventus in the semi-final of the Europa League last season.
