Lazio have made Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar their primary transfer target as they continue to strengthen their defensive options ahead of the closing summer transfer window.
The Biancocelesti look to make some more defensive changes to their squad as they inch closer to sealing a deal for Partizan Belgrade defender Vojislav Stankovic, while having already signed Dutch international Stefan de Vrij from Feyenoord.
According to a report from Il Tempo, Lazio are looking to make one more significant defensive signing, with Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar number one on their list of transfer targets.
However Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has reportedly spoken out on pursuing a different route if the club can not reach an agreement with Aston Villa over the 29-year-old centre-back.
Alternativley if Lazio fail to sing Vlaar they are said to be targeting central defenders Alexis Rolin and Nicolas Spolli from Calcio Catania or Brazillian youngster Doria as backup options.
