Leeds United have been linked to Palermo midfielder Davide Di Gennaro and could move for the striker within the coming days.

Earlier this year Massimo Cellino purchased English Championship side Leeds United. Since taking over Leeds, Cellino has added a small Italian contingent to the side, but the Italian owner hopes to add more before the transfer window closes.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Cellino is in the market for more Italians at the club and is now pursuing Palermo’s Di Gennaro. The Italian helped the Rosanero to the Serie B title last season, but could move to England.

Thus far Leeds have signed Italian goalkeeper Marco Silvestri, Giuseppe Bellusci and midfielder Tommaso Bianchi. In addition, the club have signed former Sampdoria player Gaetano Berardi.

Leeds are also trying to secure a move for Ternana’s Mirko Antenucci. The Italian side have asked for €1.5 million for their captain and Leeds are expected to wrap-up the deal soon. The club will then turn their full attention to signing Di Gennaro once the negotiations for Antenucci are finalised.

Leeds attempted to sign the striker on loan, but Ternana have told the English side they will only sell Antenucci.
