English giants Manchester United have targeted Sampdoria goalkeeper Sergio Romero to boost their goalkeeping ranks.

The 27 year old Argentinian World Cup hero spent last season on loan at Monaco, and is available for the right price after Doria signed Emiliano Viviano from Palermo this summer.

Sport Italia report that the Red Devils are keen on taking Romero on to provide competition for their incumbent shotstopper David De Gea.

The Argentinian was previously linked with Liverpool and Benfica earlier in the summer, but it seems he could be heading to Manchester before the window closes at the end of the month.
