New Roma boy Konstantinos Manolas has revealed that he chose to move to Roma even though he had other offers, including from Juventus.

Manolas completed his €13 million move from Olympiacos on Tuesday afternoon and was unveiled at a press conference on Wednesday.

“I had offers from several clubs, including Juventus,” he told reporters at his official unveiling. “However coming to Roma was my choice.

“I have always wanted to come here thanks to the advice of [Vasilis] Torosidis and [Traianos] Dellas.

“Roma was the best choice for me, I want to win a starting position as nothing has been promised.”

The Greek international then discussed Mehdi Benatia, who completed his move to Bayern Munich, the defender he has replaced.

“Benatia is a great player. I have watched Roma many times because of Torosidis.

“What can I say? He is now the past, now I am the present.”

He also revealed his expectations for Roma in the coming seasons.

“I immediately look to the Scudetto. We have a good chance [to win Serie A] and we can go far in the Champions League.”
