Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino is reportedly ready to appoint Rolando Maran as the club’s new manager.

Former boss Dave Hockaday lasted only six matches at the Championship club, winning just two, before the former Cagliari president lost his patience.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cellino will appoint an Italian coach, with former Catania man, Maran, favourite to take the hotseat.

Maran led the Elefanti to their most successful Serie A season in 2013, leading them to an eighth place finish, above giants Inter, as well as a club record points total. He was however sacked on two occasions at Catania last season.

Other candidates for the Leeds position are said to be Gianluca Festa and Sheffield Wednesday legend Benny Carbone.
