Sampdoria boss Sinisa Mihajlovic believes that his team will perform well during the 2014-15 campaign and expects to end the season in the top half of the Serie A standings.

The 45-year-old has insisted that the Blucerchiati have improved since their 12th place finish last term and he remains confident in his players’ abilities to demonstrate their talent and determination on the pitch.

Mihajlovic spoke to Sky Sport Italia about is positive outlook ahead of the new Serie A season, which Sampdoria will kick off away at Palermo on August 31, and praised his squad for the motivation they’ve shown throughout the summer.

“If we can take advantage of what we’ve been setting up for the new season, then we’ll be able to have a calm campaign and we can see where we end up,” said the tactician.

“I believe that we’ll be stronger than last year and I expect our championship to end in the top half of the table.

“Hopefully this will be the year that Stefano Okaka, Manolo Gabbiadini, Eder and all of our other attackers, will be able to explode.

“Then we also have several young guys who are doing very well. They’re important players, who are motivated and want to impress.

“I’m convinced that everyone will do well after seeing the first friendlies and our training throughout the summer.”
