Fiorentina head coach Vincenzo Montella belives that his side’s second half performance against Roma merited a better result than a loss.

A poor first half and a late goal from Gervinho saw the Viola lose 2-0 to Roma and Montella admits their first half performance cost them dearly.

“We had a bad first half,  allowing [Roma] to score their only chance,” Montella told Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“We were little timid but in the second half I saw more from Fiorentina, a draw would have been a fairer result.”

“Mario Gomez? He can definitely do better, but he is already well integrated within the squad.

“The second half showed what we could do in terms of raising our performance and that we were in the better shape.

“I did not see Roma as being so much better than us, if it were not for a mistake on the first goal it could have been a different outcome.”
