Rafa Benitez NapoliNapoli boss Rafael Benitez has applauded his team’s attitude and desire after winning their first league game of the season 2-1 against Genoa on Sunday night.

It was Jonathan De Guzman who provided the winner on 95 minutes, with a neatly tucked in goal, as the Partenopei clinched their first three points of the 2014-2015 Serie A season.

“The victory was very important and moreover it was a team victory,” said the 54-year-old.

“We had to go in need of a bit of peace, focus and enjoy the game. Also we need a bit of time as after the World Cup it is not easy to be top, physically.

Benitez also emphasised that the team will improve over time and that there is enough quality in his current crop of players.

“Then there are the new signings but we have seen a lot of quality today. They had chances and we could have gone 2-0 up.”

Napoli next play Chievo at home after the international break.
