Obiang - SampdoriaNapoli look set to challenge Premier League side West Ham United for the signature of Sampdoria midfielder Pedro Obiang, although the Serie A challenges are only willing to take the Spaniard on loan with an option to purchase.

After a raft of signings last summer in the wake of Edinson Cavani’s departure the Partenopei have been less active this year with just Kalidou Koulibaly and Michu arriving in Naples, however, with a Champions League challenge also on the horizon should they get past Athletic Bilbao in the play-off reinforcements will be required.

Rafael Benitez has long been linked with several defensive midfielders, but despite the offer of a €1m loan fee and the option to purchase at the end of the season the Blucerchiati favour the Londoners straight cash offer according to Sky Sport Italia.

Since arriving in Italy in 2008 the 22-year-old has gone on to make 98 Serie A appearances for Sampdoria and has just one solitary strike to his name, scoring against Pescara in January 2013 at the Luigi Ferraris.
