Aurelio De Laurentiis NapoliNapoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has tweeted his congratulations to the appointments of both Antonio Conte and Carlo Tavecchio in their respective positions.

Conte was officially confirmed the replacement for Cesare Prandelli as the head coach of Italy, while Tavecchio was elected as president of the FIGC.

Although Conte’s appointment as coach of Italy was widely expected after departing Juventus the election of Tavecchio was contentious given the speculation concerning racist remarks allegedly made by the 71-year-old.

Amid the controversy De Laurentiis took to twitter to post his compliments.

“Congratulations to Tavecchio and a good luck to Conte! Within a few days we left the status quo of the last few weeks. Football needs less talk and a lot of hard facts.”

De Laurentiis’ praise for Tavecchio comes after recent high profile footballers Giorgio Chiellini and Patrick Vieira voiced their disapproval of the new FIGC president.
