Former AC Milan defender Christian Panucci believes that Chelsea striker Fernando Torres would do well in the Serie A if he were to join the Diavolo this summer.

The 30-year-old is reportedly on the verge of signing a season-long loan with the Rossoneri and Panucci insists that a move from the Premier League to Italy’s top tier would be an easy transition for the Spaniard as he feels football in Italy is less intense than it is in England.

Panucci spoke to Sportal.it about Torres’ potential move to the Serie A, while also commenting on Mario Balotelli’s recent transfer from AC Milan to Liverpool.

“Torres to Milan? I personally believe that, when compared to the Premier League and the Primera Division, Serie A is poorer in quality,” said the 41-year-old. “Therefore, from our point of view, Torres would probably be able to make a difference in Milan.

“He has struggled in England, but that’s because it’s the hardest championship, it’s very physical and it has done very little to help his situation.

“The defence here would be a bit weaker so it could also help him do well. Whatever the case may be, I’m sure Adriano Galliani will bring a great striker to Milan.

“Balotelli to Liverpool? Brendan Rodgers, Liverpool’s manager, has recovered a lot of players, so he might even succeed to do so with Mario.

“I think that Balotelli should understand that there’s only one way to succeed in football, which is with seriousness and professionalism.

“He has talent to spare, so hopefully this time goes right. It seems to me that both the player and the club started with the right attitude in this new adventure.”
