Lazio boss Stefano Pioli believes that his team possess the potential to do well during the 2014-15 campaign after all of the hard work they’ve done this summer.

The 48-year-old is focused on helping the Biancocelesti stage a comeback after their poor ninth place Serie A finish last term and has once again stated that the capital city club’s main objective for the new season is to earn their place back in Europe.

Pioli spoke during his pre-match press conference ahead of Lazio’s Coppa Italia meeting with Bassano Virtus on Sunday about his positive outlook as the new campaign approaches, while also commenting on a few of his players including Antonio Candreva, who has been linked with a move away from the Aquilotti in recent weeks.

“I am satisfied because we have laid a good foundation,” said the tactician. “Now we will see what we can do in this new season.

“We have important values, both technical and moral. I’m happy with out purchases, we have a very competitive squad to work with as we try to achieve our goal of reaching Europe.

“In my head I’ve already chosen which goalkeeper I want to use, but at the moment I don’t want to make it known.

“Candreva? Much has been said and written about him, but I’ve never doubted the fact that he wants to stay here after seeing how he applies himself on the field.

“Alvaro Gonzalez? The club already knows what I think, so we’ll see what happens with him.”
