Queens Park Rangers are hoping to beat Sunderland to the signing of unwanted Napoli striker Eduardo Vargas.
The 24 year old Chilean international is not needed by the Partonopei this season, and has been linked with a move away from the club.
Sky Sport Italia report that the two clubs vying for the signature of the striker are English Premier League outfits QPR and Sunderland.
Arsenal were rumored to be interested in Vargas, but have not cemented their interest, so it looks like it will be a two-horse race for the Chilean.
QPR have since made a loan offer for Vargas, and hope to conclude a deal quickly.
