Roma defender Mehdi Benatia has reportedly rejected advances from both Manchester United and Chelsea in favour of a move to Bayern Munich.

The 27-year-old has been a main target of all three clubs since the start of the summer and rumours have heavily linked him with a possible transfer to each of them, though it seems the former Udinese man may end up with the reigning Bundesliga champions in the near future.

According to The Sun, the Moroccan international has apparently expressed his wishes to join Bayern Munich over Chelsea or Manchester United and would only be waiting on a decision from the Giallorossi executives and Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini regarding a possible transfer to Pep Guardiola’s side.

If the defender were to sign with the Bavarians, however, it would come at a high price for the German giants, as the Lupi have previously stated their intentions on keeping Benatia for the 2014-15 campaign.

Benatia scored five goals in his 33 Serie A appearances last term.
